The Bucks County District Attorney's Office is investigating the death of Ronald Davenport, an 83-year-old Doylestown man struck by a Bucks County Transport bus in the Grundy Hall parking lot.
No charges have been filed.
The fatal collision, first reported by Patch, happened the evening of Aug. 12 at the county-owned senior housing facility off Easton Road. Patch obtained a Doylestown Township Police report through a Right to Know request showing officers responded at 9:21 p.m.
Davenport was taken to Jefferson Abington Hospital, where the Montgomery County Coroner's Office pronounced him dead from multiple blunt force injuries.
DA spokesperson Manuel Gamiz said the case "remains an active and ongoing investigation." The office will not discuss potential charges or release specifics until the investigation is complete, Gamiz said. Police have not identified the driver.
Davenport's family has retained Philadelphia law firm Saltz Mongeluzzi Bendesky to represent his estate. Attorney David Kwass alleged the driver tampered with evidence and left the scene after the collision.
"Our investigation has already revealed that the bus driver, after running over Mr. Davenport, moved impact evidence at the accident scene and then fled," Kwass said.
Kwass said the firm has also gathered information about other Bucks County Transport bus collisions involving pedestrians and about the design of the area where Davenport was killed. The firm did not provide details of those findings.
Robert J. Mongeluzzi, the firm's founder, said the family "lost Ron suddenly and needlessly." Davenport, a retired sales professional, was active in his congregation and is survived by his wife, four adult children and their families, according to the firm.
The family is asking anyone with information about the Aug. 12 collision or about Bucks County Transport buses at Grundy Hall to contact Kwass at 215-575-2978.
Grundy Hall, at 1290 Almshouse Road in Doylestown, is a 152-unit senior housing facility managed by the Bucks County Housing Authority. Bucks County Transport is listed as a transit provider serving the building.
