Katherine “Kitty” Semisch, a retired Central Bucks West High School English teacher, died after being struck by a Bucks County Transport bus outside the Doylestown library on Monday, Nov. 2, according to police and a family account reported by the Bucks County Courier Times.

Central Bucks Regional Police said officers responded around 3 p.m. to the library at 150 S. Pine St. A 69-year-old pedestrian was crossing the circular drive when a bus traveling around the circle struck them. The pedestrian was taken to Doylestown Hospital and later pronounced dead.

The Courier Times reported Nov. 3 that Semisch's daughter, Lucy MacNichol, confirmed her mother's death in a Facebook post. The police announcement does not identify the victim by name.

Police said the investigation remains active, with assistance from the Bucks County District Attorney's Office Crash Team.

Bucks County Coroner Patti Campi said an autopsy was scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 4, according to the Courier Times. The police announcement does not say whether the driver stopped after the collision.

Earlier fatal crash under investigation

The Courier Times reported that this was the second fatal pedestrian crash involving a Bucks County Transport bus in the Central Bucks area this year.

The District Attorney's Office is also investigating the Aug. 12 death of Ronald Davenport, 83, who was struck by a Bucks County Transport bus outside Grundy Hall in Doylestown Township. The newspaper reported that no charges had been filed in that case as of Nov. 3.

Davenport's family filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the transport company and other defendants, alleging negligence, Central Bucks Now reported. Those allegations are separate from the investigation into the Nov. 2 library crash.
