The Central Bucks Athletic Association has opened registration for its winter intramural basketball season, with more than 80 boys' and girls' teams set to tip off in December across Central Bucks schools.

Registration closes at midnight on Saturday, Oct. 31. Late fees apply after that deadline.

The program, now in its 55th year, serves players from kindergarten through high school. Each team plays 10 to 12 regular-season games, with playoffs and championships for third grade and up. All games use paid, certified PIAA referees.

Costs run $250 per player for kindergarten through ninth-grade boys and $200 per player for seventh- through 12th-grade girls and 10th- through 12th-grade boys. Full refunds, minus a $10 nonrefundable deposit, are available through Oct. 31. A 75% refund applies through Nov. 30, and a 50% refund through Dec. 31. No refunds are issued after Jan. 1.

Practices begin the weekend of Dec. 5, with the first games the following weekend of Dec. 12. A coaches meeting is set for Monday, Nov. 16, at 6:30 p.m. Playoffs are scheduled to begin the week of March 1, 2027, with grade-division championships on March 14, 2027.

Founded in 1972 as the Buckingham Athletic Association with about 400 players, the organization grew to more than 1,600 participants before renaming itself the Central Bucks Athletic Association in 2000, according to CBAA. Its summer outdoor league now draws more than 1,700 players each year.

The organization also runs a Coaches vs. Cancer program launched in 2003 that has raised more than $1 million for cancer research, a junior referee program for high school students, and a college scholarship for graduating Central Bucks seniors.

CBAA's community footprint drew state attention on Sept. 14 when Sen. Steve Santarsiero announced a $150,000 grant to replace three crumbling basketball courts in Plumstead Township that serve roughly 1,200 kids each summer. "These basketball courts give hundreds of local kids a place to play, stay active, and build friendships every summer," Santarsiero said in the announcement. "After years of use, this investment will give the community a new, durable place to play."
