Six downtown Doylestown roads will shut down Sunday, Oct. 4, for the annual 9/11 Heroes Run, Central Bucks Regional Police announced in a traffic alert.

Closures take effect at 1 p.m. and last until approximately 5 p.m. The race itself starts at 2 p.m. at War Memorial Field, 375 W. Court St., according to the Travis Manion Foundation event page. Roads close an hour early for course setup.

The closed streets are:

  • Memorial Drive from Macfarlane to W. Court Street
  • W. Court Street from Memorial Drive to N. Clinton Street
  • Lower State Road from New Britain Road to Memorial Drive
  • N. Clinton Street from W. Court Street to W. Ashland Street
  • W. Ashland Street from N. Clinton Street to Washington Street
  • Washington Street from W. Ashland Street to W. Court Street

Residents inside the closure zone should travel to West Oakland Avenue and exit toward Main Street, the police department said.

The Doylestown race is the original 9/11 Heroes Run. The Travis Manion Foundation held the first one in 2008 with about 500 participants, Military.com reported. The series has since grown to roughly 100 events worldwide.

This year's race marks the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks. Ryan Manion, CEO of the Travis Manion Foundation and sister of the race's namesake, told Military.com in September that registrations are up more than 30% from 2025. "I think it is about people recognizing it's 25 years," she said.

Travis Manion, a Marine officer, was killed in Fallujah, Iraq, on April 29, 2007, after drawing enemy fire away from his wounded squad during an ambush. He was posthumously awarded the Silver Star and Bronze Star with Valor.

The Doylestown event also includes a 1-Mile Hero Dedication honoring 1st Lt. Colby J. Umbrell, a 1999 Central Bucks East graduate who died May 3, 2007, in Musayyib, Iraq.

The 5K welcomes runners, walkers and "ruckers," participants who carry weighted packs. Food trucks, face painting and glitter tattoos will be on site, according to the foundation.
