Downtown Doylestown's Frost Martini Lounge is turning Wednesday into a send-off party for a former employee turned filmmaker: Jack Benson, a Central Bucks West graduate now living in Los Angeles, returns home for a fundraiser to support his debut horror film, "Let This Be The Devil."

The event begins at 5 p.m. Wednesday at Frost, 46 E. State St. in Doylestown Borough.

Frost owner Uri Abrams said Benson previously worked part-time at the lounge before heading west to pursue filmmaking. Abrams described the evening as a "Meet and Greet" where attendees can hear directly from Benson about the project.

"Given his talent and given his charisma, we're confident he will go far," Abrams told Patch. "We all know there are many thousands of stories out in Hollywood of failed dreams, but I've always said if anyone has a chance out there, it's Jack."

Benson's screenplay was named a finalist for Best Horror Screenplay at the 2024 Sacramento International Film Festival, according to Frost's promotional materials. Alan Arias is attached to direct.

The fundraiser offers a full lineup. The Little Red Rooster Blues Band, a Doylestown group inducted into the Pennsylvania Blues Hall of Fame in 2015, will play a four-hour set starting at 5 p.m. Representatives from Vermont's Bar Hill Distillery will pour a gin tasting, and attendees will receive a free jar of honey, per Frost's Instagram page.

A silent auction offers two Frost Lounge memberships, rare wines from the bar's cellar and estate-service packages donated by Penglase & Benson, Inc., the Doylestown criminal defense firm at 18 N. Main St. Frost will also donate a portion of its own proceeds from the evening to Benson's film fund.

Abrams encouraged neighbors to stop by. He framed the night as a chance to support a hometown artist early: "Get to meet him so when he gets further and higher in Hollywood you can say, 'I had drinks with him at Frost.'"
