A 42-year-old inmate at the Bucks County Women's Correctional Facility faces felony contraband charges after detectives say a fellow inmate's tip led officers to cocaine hidden in her jumper pocket.

Christine Lampe was housed in the facility's Special Housing Unit on June 22 when another inmate assigned to monitor her approached a corrections officer at about 8:39 a.m., according to court documents. The monitoring inmate reported that Lampe had come to her cell window and offered her a pill in exchange for candy, the affidavit states.

A corrections sergeant responded to the unit and searched Lampe. Officers found a clear plastic bag containing a blue item in the upper pocket of her correctional jumper, investigators alleged. A search of Lampe's cell turned up three additional empty plastic bags similar in size to the one found on her.

Lab confirmed cocaine

A Bucks County Department of Corrections investigator collected the materials on June 23 and delivered them to NMS Labs in Horsham for testing. A lab report received June 26 identified the blue material as cocaine, a Schedule II controlled substance.

Bucks County investigators filed charges on July 21. Lampe was arraigned July 28 before Magisterial District Judge Timothy Barton, who set bail at 10 percent of $25,000 cash, meaning Lampe would need to post $2,500 for release.

She faces one felony count of contraband possession in a correctional facility and misdemeanor counts of possessing a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. Under Pennsylvania law, bringing a controlled substance into a prison is a second-degree felony carrying a mandatory minimum of two years' confinement upon conviction.

Preliminary hearing set for Monday

Lampe's preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 10 before Magisterial District Judge Mark D. Douple.

The contraband case is not Lampe's only pending legal matter. She is separately awaiting formal arraignment in Bucks County Common Pleas Court on felony retail theft, misdemeanor receiving stolen property and conspiracy charges from a Lower Southampton arrest.

The case marks at least the second contraband-in-custody incident reported at the Bucks County Correctional Facility in 2026, following a July case in which a separate inmate was accused of hiding Suboxone in a sock before a facility transfer.
