Three police agencies ticketed 58 drivers for speeding on the Route 611 and Route 202 bypasses on Wednesday after officers clocked vehicles traveling between 75 and 92 mph in a 55-mph zone, according to the Central Bucks Regional Police Department.

The Central Bucks Regional Police Department, Pennsylvania State Police and Doylestown Township Police ran the joint enforcement detail on the corridor through the Doylestown area.

A prior traffic stop on northbound Route 611 triggered the crackdown. In that stop, a driver was clocked at 114 mph, more than double the posted 55-mph limit. The Central Bucks Regional Police Department did not specify when that stop occurred, but described it as the catalyst for Wednesday's coordinated effort.

All drivers clocked at least 20 over

During the July 22 detail, every citation went to a driver doing at least 20 mph over the speed limit. The fastest driver caught Wednesday was traveling at 92 mph.

Several motorists also received citations for violating Pennsylvania's Move Over Law, which requires drivers approaching an emergency response area to move into a lane farther from the scene or slow to at least 20 mph below the posted limit.

Three agencies, one corridor

Three separate law enforcement agencies coordinated on a single corridor, pooling resources to cover both the 611 and 202 bypasses simultaneously.

The Central Bucks Regional Police Department said the operation aimed to "bring awareness to dangerous driving and to reduce high speeds" on the bypasses. The department urged drivers to follow posted speed limits, move over for emergency vehicles, adjust speed for road conditions, and avoid distractions.

What residents should know

The Route 611 and 202 bypasses carry heavy commuter and commercial traffic through the Doylestown area. The posted speed limit is 55 mph.
