Hundreds of costumed cyclists will pedal through downtown Doylestown on Saturday, Oct. 24, for the borough's annual Witches Ride.
The roughly four-mile group ride starts at 10 a.m. and winds through borough streets on open roads shared with car traffic, as first reported by Central Bucks Now. Proceeds benefit Bike Doylestown programs and maintenance of the Doylestown Pump Track and Chapman Trails.
Riders must be at least 18 years old. Advance registration and a signed waiver are required. No day-of registration will be available, and registration is non-refundable. Organizers plan to share the route with registered participants shortly before the event.
In an Oct. 12 Central Bucks Now preview, organizers said the ride involves frequent stops and starts with a large group and advised that participants "should be a confident bike rider to enjoy the ride safely."
The Witches Ride is part of a bigger morning of Halloween fun downtown. The Spooktacular Costume Contest and Parade kicks off the same day at the lawn of the Bucks County Administration Building, 55 E. Court St. Check-in begins at 9:30 a.m., according to Discover Doylestown. An award ceremony starts at 10:30 a.m., and trick-or-treating through downtown businesses begins at 11:15 a.m.
The Spooktacular parade route runs from the Administration Building lawn down Pine Street onto East State Street. Advance registration for the costume contest is strongly encouraged so businesses know how much candy to stock.
Residents interested in the Witches Ride can find registration details at Discover Doylestown.
