A Trenton man who used 44 fake $20 bills at the Giant supermarket in New Britain Township was sentenced Tuesday, Sept. 1, to up to 23 months in Bucks County prison.
Bucks County Common Pleas Court Judge Raymond McHugh handed down the sentence after Jajuan Chante Worley, 45, pleaded guilty to one felony forgery count and misdemeanor counts of theft by deception and receiving stolen property, Central Bucks News reported. A second felony forgery charge was dismissed. Additional theft and receiving stolen property counts also resulted in guilty pleas.
Worley received credit for time served since April 26. Court records state he was eligible for presumptive parole at his minimum sentence, provided he had no misconduct while incarcerated. McHugh also ordered one year of probation on a theft charge, to run after the prison term and concurrently with any other sentences Worley is serving.
The judge ordered Worley to pay $26.56 in restitution to Giant and barred him from contacting the store.
How Worley was identified
New Britain Township Police alleged Worley was part of a three-person group that passed the counterfeit bills while buying merchandise and gift cards at Giant, 4275 County Line Road, on Aug. 24, 2024. The fake currency totaled $880.
Investigators identified Worley using facial-recognition technology, law enforcement databases and social media. Police said rap music videos Worley posted to YouTube helped confirm his identity.
Surveillance footage showed two men and a woman entering the store and leaving in a white 1999 Buick Regal registered to a Trenton address, according to police. The vehicle was tracked heading north on Route 309 near Hilltown Pike shortly after the transactions.
Long gap before arrest
Worley was charged in September 2024 but was not taken into custody until April 2026. Bail was set at 10 percent of $200,000 after his arraignment on May 1.
Court-appointed Chalfont attorney Harry James Cooper represented Worley.
