Jamison native Aidan Weaver is headed to professional baseball.

The Oakland Athletics selected the Central Bucks East graduate in the eighth round of the 2026 MLB Draft on Sunday, July 12, making the 6-foot-5 right-handed pitcher the 231st overall pick.

Weaver, 22, watched the draft from his family's home in Jamison when his name was called. He is now at the Athletics' rookie camp in Mesa, Arizona, where he'll remain into September before reporting to spring training in 2027.

The pick carries a slot value of $245,800, according to MLB.com's published bonus pool figures.

Weaver's path to the pros ran through Duke University, where a coaching change unlocked a breakout senior season. New head coach Corey Muscara, in his debut year leading the program, told Weaver to throw his changeup more than 40% of the time, PhillyBurbs reported. The adjustment nearly doubled Weaver's swing-and-miss rate, from 14.7% as a junior to 29% as a senior. He finished 2026 with 87 strikeouts over a team-leading 65 innings, including six scoreless frames against Miami.

His overall record at Duke was 4-9 with a 6.37 ERA, but the strikeout numbers and improved pitch mix caught Oakland's attention. He was the only Blue Devil taken in this year's draft.

Before Duke, Weaver dominated at CB East. As a senior in 2022, he posted a 1.25 ERA with 44 strikeouts in just 28 innings. He also earned first-team All-Suburban One League Continental honors in basketball.

According to Central Bucks Now, Weaver hopes to continue as a starter in the Athletics organization, though he acknowledged his fastball, changeup and slider could translate to a late-inning relief role. He credited the limited opportunities he received earlier in his Duke career and the program's coaching transition with preparing him for the grind ahead.

He was one of five Bucks County-area players selected in the draft, joining Pennsbury's Joe Tiroly (Padres, Round 7), Souderton's Liam O'Leary (Pirates, Round 15), La Salle's Tristan Helmick (Reds, Round 20), and Holy Ghost Prep's Eddie Rosado (Blue Jays, Round 20).

Weaver reports to Athletics spring training in early 2027.
