All three Central Bucks high school football teams are headed to the PIAA District 1 Class 6A playoffs after closing the regular season Oct. 30.
CB West earned the No. 2 seed at 9-1. CB South locked up the No. 8 seed at 6-4. CB East grabbed the No. 10 spot, also at 6-4, according to the PIAA District 1 rankings. First-round games are set for Friday, Nov. 6, at 7 p.m.
The Bucks, the Patriots and the Titans will each play a district opener that night. For a community that fields three 6A programs within the same school district, it is a full house in the bracket.
CB West: No. 2 seed, hosts Perkiomen Valley
CB West rolled past intradistrict rival CB East 41-14 at War Memorial Field in Doylestown to cap a 9-1 regular season, as reported by the Bucks County Courier Times.
Senior running back Braylen Cape set the tone with a 61-yard touchdown on the Bucks' first play from scrimmage. He finished with 155 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries. Senior quarterback Josh George threw a pair of 24-yard touchdown passes.
"It was just a perfect atmosphere tonight," George said.
The win also gave CB West a share of the Suburban One League National Conference title at 6-1, along with CB South and Pennridge. Head coach Rob Rowan's squad claimed the Central Bucks Cup for a second straight season.
"To be able to accomplish what we have is really special, but we've been on a mission since last December and our players know that," Rowan said.
The Bucks host No. 15 Perkiomen Valley (4-6) on Nov. 6.
CB South: No. 8 seed, hosts Coatesville
CB South stunned previously unbeaten Pennridge 21-14 in Warrington, as reported by the Bucks County Courier Times. Senior Gavin Graham scored all three Titans touchdowns, the last on a 10-yard pass from sophomore quarterback Trent Haviland with 23 seconds left.
The Titans started the season 0-3. They won six of their last seven games to earn a playoff berth and a share of the SOL National title at 6-1 in conference play.
"This group is so mentally tough," co-coach John Cataldo said. "It's the most mentally tough group I've ever been around."
Pennridge had not allowed more than one touchdown in any of its first nine games. The Titans scored three.
CB South hosts No. 9 Coatesville (6-4) on Nov. 6.
CB East: No. 10 seed, at Ridley
CB East finished 6-4 overall and 4-3 in the SOL National after the loss to CB West. Head coach John Donnelly acknowledged the gap but pointed ahead.
