A 47-room boutique hotel approved for downtown Doylestown won't be built. Developer Larry Thomson has walked away from the project at 57 W. Court St., and the borough has no plan in hand for what comes next.
Borough Manager John Davis confirmed the news in an email the week of July 8.
"We have received no official submission," Davis said, "but are aware that the hotel project is no longer being pursued."
The borough has not received a formal withdrawal from Thomson.
Borough Council approved the hotel's land development plans in 2025, according to a BucksCoToday report published that October. The approval capped a contentious review process. The Bucks County Herald described the plan as "fiercely debated" and reported that rumors of its demise had circulated for some time before Davis's confirmation.
The property sits along the same downtown corridor where the borough is planning a $553,000 intersection modernization project at West State, West Court and Clinton streets this fall.
Doylestown Borough Council meets on the fourth Monday of each month at 7 p.m. Residents with questions about the 57 W. Court St. site can contact the borough manager's office or attend an upcoming meeting.
