Cosmo Nail Lounge in Doylestown is donating a portion of proceeds from select spa pedicures to a local breast cancer nonprofit throughout October.
The Barn Plaza salon, at 1745 S. Easton Road, calls the effort "Beauty With Purpose." Owner Hue Nguyen said the campaign pairs routine appointments with charitable giving. The salon raised $3,000 through the same initiative last year and hopes to match or exceed that total, as first reported by Doylestown Patch.
"For us, this campaign is about using our business to support the communities that have supported us," Nguyen said.
Proceeds from the Doylestown location go to Main St. Missions Corp., a Doylestown-based nonprofit formerly known as Pine2Pink. The organization focuses on keeping fundraising dollars local. Since its founding, Main St. Missions has donated more than $830,000 and helped more than 3,500 breast cancer patients across Bucks County, according to TapInto Doylestown. The nonprofit is now in its ninth year of running October fundraising activities with local business partners.
Those funds support patients at Fox Chase Cancer Center Buckingham, Penn Medicine Doylestown Health Cancer Institute, St. Mary Medical Center and St. Luke's/Grand View Hospital. Main St. Missions also operates the Kin Wellness and Support Center in Buckingham, a 5,000-square-foot retreat offering free fitness, therapy and integrative services to Bucks County cancer patients, Central Bucks News reported.
Cosmo Nail Lounge recently opened a second location at The Promenade at Upper Dublin, 1092 Market St. in Dresher. That salon is also participating in Beauty With Purpose throughout October, with its proceeds going to Unite for HER, a national nonprofit founded in 2009 that provides free wellness programs to breast and ovarian cancer patients.
Nguyen said the salon wants to bring the same community-focused experience to each location. Both Cosmo Nail Lounge locations accept Beauty With Purpose pedicure bookings throughout October.
