A 30-year-old Lansdale man faces multiple felony charges after Ivyland Borough Police and Bucks County detectives alleged he posed as a 19-year-old on Snapchat to sexually exploit a 16-year-old Bucks County boy, then targeted a second teenager months later.

Jason Keppel, of the 100 block of Oakland Avenue, was charged Tuesday, Aug. 11, and arraigned Wednesday, Aug. 12. He is jailed in Bucks County on 10 percent of $250,000 bail.

According to the probable cause affidavit as reported by Central Bucks Now, Ivyland police opened the investigation March 31 after receiving a report from a 17-year-old boy. The teenager told investigators he first connected with Keppel on Snapchat in November 2025, when the boy was 16.

Keppel allegedly used a different last name and claimed to be 19. The teen's Snapchat profile displayed his school's initials and expected graduation year, and the boy directly told Keppel he was 16, according to the complaint.

Explicit exchanges, in-person meeting

After about a week of communication, the two allegedly began exchanging sexually explicit photos and videos. The teen estimated each sent more than 25 files, investigators said.

They later met in late November or early December 2025 inside Keppel's pickup truck in a parking lot, where police allege they engaged in sexual activity.

The teenager blocked Keppel after he became "pushy" about arranging another meeting, the affidavit states. Keppel allegedly contacted the boy again through Instagram in January 2026 and kept pressing to meet.

In March, the teenager confronted Keppel about his real age. Keppel allegedly admitted he was actually 29. Despite that disclosure, investigators allege Keppel continued contacting the teen and in April sent additional explicit material while requesting images in return.

Second victim identified through cybertips

The case widened after detectives obtained two cybertip reports from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. One tip alleged a Snapchat account linked to Keppel sent explicit material to a second 17-year-old boy in February 2026. That teenager had disclosed his age before receiving the material, according to investigators.

Detectives linked Keppel's Snapchat, Instagram and Facebook accounts to him through phone, email, internet-provider and account records. They also matched images to Keppel's driver's license photo, police said. The affidavit states investigators reviewed records of photographs of juveniles that Keppel allegedly saved through Snapchat.

The case is the second Snapchat-related child exploitation arrest in Bucks County in roughly two weeks. Hilltown Township man Kevin Thomas Urso, 41, was charged Aug. 10 with felony child pornography counts after a separate Snapchat cybertip led investigators to his home.

Charges and next steps

Keppel faces one felony count of unlawful contact with a minor involving sexual offenses, two felony counts of unlawful contact or communication with a minor involving sexual abuse, and felony counts of sexual abuse of children, disseminating explicit sexual material to a minor and criminal use of a communication facility. He was also charged with corruption of minors.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 24, before Magisterial District Judge Christopher E. O'Neill.
