Central Bucks Regional Police are asking the public to help identify a woman caught on video driving the wrong way on Mechanics Street in Doylestown Borough, mounting a sidewalk and nearly hitting a pedestrian, then attempting to strike him.

The incident happened Thursday, Aug. 13, at 6:20 p.m. on the residential street near Broad Street in the heart of the borough.

Video released by the department on Monday, Aug. 17, shows the woman driving against traffic on Mechanics Street before steering her vehicle onto the sidewalk, according to Patch, which reported on the department's CrimeWatch release. The vehicle came close to hitting a pedestrian who was walking on the sidewalk, police said.

After the near-miss, the driver got into a verbal exchange with the pedestrian and attempted to hit him with her hand, according to the department's statement. Police have not said whether the blow connected or whether the pedestrian was injured.

No charges have been filed. The driver has not been identified, and the case is listed as "Attempt to Identify" on the department's CrimeWatch portal. No description of the suspect's vehicle has been released publicly.

The department is directing tips to Captain Lance Carlen, who commands the Patrol Unit and Traffic Safety Unit, according to the Central Bucks Regional Police Department's 2025 annual report. Anyone who recognizes the driver in the video can reach Carlen at 215-345-4143.

Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the CBRPD CrimeWatch portal online. The department notes that the online tip system should not be used for emergencies or incidents in progress; those should go to 911.

Central Bucks Regional Police, which serves Doylestown Borough, Chalfont and New Britain Borough, released the footage four days after the incident. The investigation remains open.
